International recognition and full accreditation of the study programs

EU-wide recognition

MediCampus Europeo and all its study programmes, classified up to MQF Level 7, are accredited by the Malta Further and Higher Education Authority.

On 26 June 2024, MFHEA licensed MediCampus Europeo as a Higher Education Institution with Licence Number 2024-020.

Automatic International Recognition

The six-year medical programme at MediCampus Europeo leads to a university degree in Medicine (MD) awarded by Trakia University, Bulgaria, a state university within the European Union. This qualification allows graduates to obtain a licence to practise medicine across the EU, Norway, Switzerland, the UK and many other countries. Under EU Directive 2005/36/EC on the Recognition of Professional Qualifications, the degree is automatically recognised, with no additional examination required.

Recognition Beyond Europe

Trakia University is listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools (WDOMS) under FAIMER School ID: F0001145. As a result, students and graduates of the Faculty of Medicine at MediCampus Europeo are eligible to apply for ECFMG Certification, take the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE), and pursue medical careers in the USA, Canada, and many other non-EU countries.

360 ECTS / 60 per year

European Credit Transfer System

The MCE programme follows the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS), ensuring that academic achievements are recognised, transferable, and comparable across the European Higher Education Area.

Students complete a total of 360 ECTS credits over the six-year programme, with 60 ECTS credits awarded each academic year.

Master of Medicine Degree, Doctor of Medicine (MD) • Stara Zagora, Bulgaria

The Medicine programme, leading to the Master of Medicine Degree, Doctor of Medicine (MD), is delivered by MediCampus Europeo through a franchise partnership with Trakia University. Upon graduation, students receive a degree issued by the University.

Founded in 1995 and based in Stara Zagora, Bulgaria, Trakia is a state university offering English-taught programmes in Medicine and Veterinary Medicine. It is institutionally accredited by Bulgaria’s National Evaluation and Accreditation Agency (NEAA), a full ENQA member listed in EQAR, confirming alignment with European quality assurance standards.
