MediCampus Europeo Hosts Nobel Prize Laureate Gregg L. Semenza for the First Beyond the Prize Lecture

MediCampus Europeo, Faculty of Medicine in Malta, had the honour of hosting Professor Gregg L. Semenza, MD, PhD, Nobel Prize Laureate in Physiology or Medicine 2019, for the first lecture of the Beyond the Prize Medical Lecture Series.

The event marked an important moment for the MCE academic community and opened the first chapter of a lecture series created to bring students closer to internationally respected voices in medicine, biomedical science and clinical research.

A meaningful academic experience for MCE students

Professor Semenza’s lecture offered students the opportunity to engage directly with one of the most influential figures in modern biomedical science.

The session was received with great interest and appreciation. Students actively participated in the discussion, asking thoughtful and curious questions, which Professor Semenza answered with clarity, generosity and academic depth.

This exchange reflected the purpose of Beyond the Prize: to create moments of dialogue between future doctors and the scientists, clinicians and researchers whose work has helped shape modern medicine.

A special thank you

MediCampus Europeo sincerely thanks Professor Gregg L. Semenza for dedicating his time to our students and for sharing such an inspiring lecture with the MCE community.

We also extend our gratitude to Professor Ivan Varga, Professor of Anatomy, Histology and Embryology at MCE, for his presence and contribution as speaker during the event, to Luca Cammarata, CEO of MediCampus Europeo, and to all the organisers who made this first Beyond the Prize lecture possible.

The first lecture of Beyond the Prize was a meaningful success and a memorable academic experience for our students.
